Hungarian unions in protests againt the government

Four Hungarian trade union confederations, (ASZSZ, ESZT, MSZOSZ, SZEF), organized on national level a successful demonstration on the 16th of June and protested against the amendment of the Labour Code, increasing of exploitation and reduction of incomes.

Trade unions protested against the abolition of of the National Council of Reconciliation of Interests (a tripartite body for the negotiations between the social partners and the Government), against changing the pension system without preliminary negotiations with unions and employers’ associations.
Confederations also protested against the significant reduction of the unemployment benefits and other social supports.

Janos Borsik, President of the ASZSZ, pointed out that this demonstration is not the last one, if Government realizes its threats which further damage workers’ situation.
