Informal economy workers protection and representation, regional alliance building workshop

On April 6-8, 2009 in Bratislava a workshop "Informal economy workers protection and representation, regional alliance building" was held, where trade union and NGOs representatives of CEE region participated. FES Bratislava and the PERC Vilnius office organized the event.

In the event the activities and projects presentation were made, new contacts were established, mutual future activities on national and sub regional level were planned. Young researcher from Germany Mathias Ammer presented study on IE in CEE summary, he attempted to collect all of the studies on IE in CEE issued during the last 10 years. He got an impressive numbers. Researches was distributed to participants on a special CD.

International NGOs networks that work closely with trade unions attended the event: representatives of CCC (Clean clothes campaign), StreetNet International, WIEGO (Women in Informal Economy Global Organization). Pat Horn from StreetNet South Africa presentation has received huge attention. StreetNet plan to continue to share the experience with the CEE organizations working in IE. Trade unionists and representatives of national NGOs attended the event from Poland, Serbia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, and Bulgaria. First such event was held in November 2008 in Warsaw. It was agreed to continue cooperation in future. National and sub regional common activity plans was discussed.
