Kyrgyzstan: ITUC concerned with potential restrictions on the right to strike

ITUC expressed its concerns on the potential restrictions on the right to strike in Kyrgyzstan. The draft law published for consultations makes interruption of work on a strategic enterprise a criminal offence. An enterprise could be considered strategic if it generates 2% of the country’s GDP.

ITUC General Secretary, Sharan Burrow, sent a letter to the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament, calling to make sure this law is not enforced and the international commitments of Kyrgystan are complied with.
