Participants discussed different aspects of youth work in trade unions, prioritising the need for getting out of "youth boxes" as framed by the official youth structures, making these structures contributing to the activities trade unions are and have to implement to represent the interests of their members, rather then purely concentrating on usual "youth work" of socialising or sport. In particular, trade union campaigning, communication policies, trade union education and organising were considered as the areas where trade union youth can strengthen the present trade union actions.
Youth policy meeting for NIS
The ITUC-PERC Moscow office, with support of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, organised a two-day brainstorming meeting on youth policies in the trade union centres of the New Independent States region. Participants from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova took part in the workshop.
