FNPR’s Secretary Nikolay Gladkov passed away

ITUC’s letter of Condolences

Dear Mikhail, brothers and sisters,

On my personal behalf and on behalf of the ITUC I would like to express condolences with regards to untimely demise of Nikolay Gladkov, FNPR secretary.

He was an outstanding lawyer, author and developer of important legal initiatives for workers and unions of Russia. All significant achievement of trade unions in Russia in regulating labour relations in recent years – both in law and in practice – are inherently connected with his name.

Nikolay actively contributed to development, adoption and promotion of international labour norms, was a renowned participant of international norm-setting processes at the International Labour Organisation, voice and advocate of workers and trade union interests during International Labour Conferences. He was distinguished by professionalism, adherence to principles, and broad scaled thinking.

His demise is an irreparable loss to Russian and international trade unionism. I ask you to convey our sincere condolences to his family and relatives, friends and colleagues.

Sincerely yours,

Sharan Burrow,
ITUC General Secretary
