Kyrgyzstan: ITUC concerned with potential restrictions on the right to strike

26 March 2014: ITUC expressed its concerns on the potential restrictions on the right to strike in Kyrgyzstan. The draft law published for consultations makes interruption of work on a strategic enterprise a criminal offence. An enterprise could be considered strategic if it generates 2% of the country’s GDP.

ITUC General Secretary, Sharan Burrow, sent a letter to the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament, calling to make sure this law is not enforced and the international commitments of Kyrgystan are complied with.
