Bulgaria: unions call for national protest

At a joint meeting of the leaderships of CITUB and Podkrepa CL, together with the National Strike Committees of the two confederations, the intentions of the government to cancel the agreements negotiated in the National Agreement for financial stabilization of the social security system and the pension reform were discussed.

The intention to increase the retirement age with one year for women and men as of 1 January 2012 and the elimination of additional remuneration for acquired professional experience and length of service (class) are a blunt violation of the Rules for Social Dialogue in Bulgaria, regulated by the Labour Code and of the Regulations for the Organization and Operation of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation (NCTC), which renders the activity of the NCTC pointless.

The meeting took the following decisions:

1. The two Confederations shall inform with a special letter Prime Minister Boyko Borisov that they withdraw their delegations from the NCTC.
2. On 30 November 2011 at 1 p.m. CITUB and Podkrepa CL shall organize a national demonstration-meeting in front of the National Assembly in protest against the intentions of the government to cut off the rights of the Bulgarian citizens.
3. The two centrals shall start preparations for the carrying out of a one day national warning strike.

CITUB and Podkrepa CL turn to all Bulgarians with the appeal to take part in the trade union and civil actions in protection of their social and human rights!
