The Congress adopted LBAS Activity Report for period 2012- 2016, the Report of Audit Commission, LBAS Statute, LBAS Strategic Goals for 2016-2021 and two Resolutions - “Strengthening of trade union youth participation in decision-making in trade unions” and “LBAS demands to the Government of Latvia and the Parliament of Latvia (Saeima)”.
LBAS Congress elected the new leadership: former Vice President Egils Baldzens was elected for the post of the President of LBAS and Communication Workers Trade Union’s President Irena Liepina and Railway and Transport Workers Trade Union’s Deputy Chairman Aleksandrs Muhlinkins were elected as Vice Presidents.
LBAS former President Peteris Krigers and former Vice President Livija Marcinkevica who worked together for 14 years highlighted the importance of maintaining the trade union unity in future and wished the new leadership to continue the good work already done and to start new positive initiatives for workers.
166 delegates participated in LBAS Congress, more than 60% of them women delegates.
LBAS Congress was addressed by the state and government officials, ministers, social and cooperation partners.
18 international guests representing cooperation partners from friendly trade unions across the Europe participated in the Congress including representatives from ETUC, EESC and PERC.
