PERC Steering Committee meeting

The PERC Steering Committee met on the 15th of December. It discussed ITUC General Council’s decisions and preparations for the 5th ITUC World Congress, ILO developments, ETUC mid-term conference and ongoing EU legislative processes (platform workers, pay transparency, minimal wage and collective bargaining), the rise of far right groups in Europe and growing attacks on trade union rights.

The PERC Steering Committee expressed its regrets towards the lack of progress in achieving sustainable and fair approach to vaccination in the region and the globe, received reports and updates from the secretariat and regional offices, including on countries with specific challenges for workers and unions, including Belarus, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Central Asian republics and others.

PERC working plan for 2022 was fine-tuned to outline the regional contributions to the preparations for the 5th ITUC World Congress. Working plan will reflect Pan-European trade union priorities, including just transition, campaign to achieve OSH as fundamental workers’ right, regulation of platform work, ratification of the ILO Convention 190, living minimal wage actions, fair taxation for recovery and social protection, promotion of freedom of association and collective bargaining.

Members of the Steering committee also exchanged information about current situations in their countries in relation to COVID-19 and recovery, were informed about actions and priorities of the Women’s and Youth Committees, and the situation in different cooperation projects the PERC has with Solidarity Support Organisations.
