Serbia: national round tables “Representing rights of workers, especially women, engaged in Informal Economy”

The SSSS and the UGS NEZAVISNOST, with the support of the ITUC/PERC SEE Office Sarajevo, organised two Round Tables on the topic of "Representing rights of workers, especially women, engaged in Informal Economy” in December 2009 in the Republic of Serbia . The first Round Table was held in Nis on December 7 and the second Round Table was held in Kragujevac on December 23.

Besides the participants from the both Confederations and its regional offices, the Round Tables were attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare and the Employment Offices that deal with the problem of Informal Economy.

Topics that were discussed at the Round Tables were: Status of Women engaged in Informal Economy; TUs principles concerning the Informal Economy; and in addition of Presentations by both Confederations, there was presented the successful example of the SSS Council – Smederevo on its efforts in the Informal Economy prevention as an eventual model for the other TU colleagues within the Republic of Serbia in their further joint efforts in the Informal Economy prevention.

Both Round Tables were attended by the 53 participants in total, whereof 38 participants were women and 15 participants were men.
