The loss of Trade Union Movement: László Kordás

László Kordás, the former president of the Hungarian Trade Union Confederation MASZSZ and a member of the Hungarian Parliament, died suddenly on 30th of January at age of 53.

László Kordás was born on November 28, 1969. He became a member of the Vasas (the Hungarian Metalworkers’ Federation) in 1984, while still being a student. He became the secretary and then the president of the Vasas Youth Committee. Later on he served as the secretary and then the president of the youth organization of the Hungarian Trade Union Confederation. From 2015 to 2021, he was a chair of the Hungarian Trade Union Confederation (MASZSZ).

He was always a fighter, a committed official, a person who stood up for the interests of workers. He consistently fought for the interests, moral and financial respect of the employees, so that Hungarian workers could truly work in European conditions. His commitment to the trade union movement and his expertise were also recognized and highly valued by his negotiating partners. He was convinced that real results can only be achieved with tireless, professionally credible work.

His death is an irreplaceable loss for all of us, for the entire Hungarian trade union movement.
Our sincere condolences to his family!
