Turkey: Global Women Labour Meeting

8 March 2013: On the occasion of 8 March International Women’s Day, the HAK-İŞ Trade Union Confederation organized “Global Women Labour Meeting” in Ankara on March 7-8th, 2013.

Trade union officials, women committee presidents and representatives of workers trade union confederations from more than 30 countries and International Trade Unions Confederation (ITUC) Pan-European Regional Council (PERC), Turkish women representatives of HAK-İŞ affiliates from all regions in Turkey, representatives of Turkish non-governmental organizations (NGOs), academics and representatives of employers’ institutions have attended the Global Women Labour Meeting.

This social summit focused on exchange of views and opinions about the problems women are facing, in particular in the world of work, on possible solutions for these issues, on the ways to increase women representation and participation by promoting equality, fighting against all discrimination types and preventing violence against women.

We all celebrate 8 March International Women’s Day, which is the symbol of unity and solidarity and equality demands of women.
