21st PERC Executive Committee

The 21st meeting of the PERC Executive Committee took place on 17 October virtually, focusing on preparations for the 5th PERC General Assembly in December 2023. It endorsed draft agenda, activities report and programme document, amendments to the Constitution and General Assembly Standing Orders and discussed proposed composition of the leadership team.

PERC General Secretary Ester Lynch informed about EU social partners mission to Ukraine and the initiative to get the next EU-Ukraine Summit preceded by the Social partners summit. She also urged all the affiliates to join mobilization against austerity in Europe and to fight against attacks on trade union rights and criminalization of trade union actions.

Luc Triangle, ITUC General Secretary, greeted the meeting, called for reinforced new social contract agenda adopted by the ITUC Congress, also in Europe. Catelene Passchier, chair of the Workers group in the ILO, outlined priority action points to implement right to strike as unalienable under ILO Convention 87, to protect ILO supervisory mechanisms from employers’ attacks and to get actions by all member states in relation to government of Belarus for decades long antiunion repressions as defined by the ILO Resolution. The meeting also deplored the order or deportation of Belarusian trade union activist by Sweden and was informed about actions taken by Swedish, Polish, Belarusian affiliates and by the international and European trade union movement in this regard.

The Executive Committee also adopted annual activity and financial reports. Roya Garaeva, Chair of Women Committee, and Nicola Bobic, member of the Youth Committee, reported about actions and plans of their committees.
