Representatives’ of ILO visit to Kazakhstan

On September 26-28, 2017, representatives of the International Labour Organization (ILO) visited Kazakhstan: Sergeyus Glovackas, the Desk Officer for Europe and Central Asia of the ILO Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) and the ILO Moscow Senior Specialist for the Workers’ Activities Gocha Alexandria.

A number of meetings were held with the representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan and other state bodies, discussed the implementation of the ILO Conventions and Recommendations by the Government of Kazakhstan, as well as the situation with workers’ and trade unions in the country.

Sergeyus Glovackas and Gocha Alexandria met with the representatives of Kazakhstan trade unions, with whom they discussed the situation of trade unions in Kazakhstan, opportunities and problems of the development of the trade union movement.

The leaders of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KNPRC) at the meeting with representatives of the ILO gave an analysis of the ongoing legislative changes in the social and labour sphere. They also discussed the issues of law enforcement practice on the basis of legislative acts, which are criticized by the ILO and the trade union movement in Kazakhstan.
